# Privacy Policy
**Last updated: 3 June 2026**
## 1. Overview
Skydive Logbook does not collect your personal data on our servers.
Your jump log, gear, drop zones, photos, signatures, and notes stay
on your device.
The only data that ever leaves your device is:
- **Anonymous crash and diagnostic reports** sent to Firebase to
help us fix bugs (see Section 5).
- **iCloud sync** of your logbook across your own Apple devices, if
you choose to enable it (see Section 7).
- **CSV export files** you choose to share or save yourself.
We do not see any of your logbook contents at any time.
## 2. Information the App Stores
The app stores the following on your device only:
- Jump log entries
- Gear data
- Drop zone selections (including any drop zone coordinates you save)
- Photos, diagrams, and signatures you attach to a jump
- Your reminders and notes
This information never leaves your phone except via the optional
channels described in Sections 5, 7, and 8.
## 3. Permissions the App Uses
The app may ask for the following permissions. Each is optional,
used only for the feature described, and all processing happens
on your device.
- **Location (While Using the App):** used to automatically suggest
the nearest drop zone when you log a jump. Your location is not
stored or shared.
- **Camera:** used to take photos or capture diagrams to attach to a
jump log.
- **Photo Library:** used to attach existing photos to a jump log.
- **Bluetooth:** used only when you choose to import jump data from
a FlySight 2 GPS audible (see Section 6).
You can decline or revoke any of these permissions in the iOS
Settings app; the related features simply won't be available.
## 4. No Tracking, Analytics, or Advertising
Skydive Logbook does not:
- Track you across apps or websites for advertising purposes
- Collect usage analytics, screen views, session metrics, or any
other behavioural data
- Share data with advertisers or data brokers
- Use any advertising frameworks
- Sell your data to any third party
The Firebase project Skydive Logbook uses has Google Analytics
disabled at the backend level. The only telemetry the app sends is
the anonymous crash and diagnostic reporting described in Section 5.
## 5. Crash and Diagnostic Reporting
Beginning with version 2.0, the app uses Firebase Crashlytics (a
Google service) to automatically send a crash report when the app
crashes or hits a recoverable error. This helps us identify and fix
bugs.
The data sent is limited to:
- The crash stack trace and thread state at the moment of failure
- Device model, operating system version, available memory at the
time of crash
- App version and build number
- An anonymous installation identifier generated by Firebase
- Recent in-app log messages ("breadcrumbs") describing what the app
was doing immediately before the crash (e.g. "opened logbook tab",
"saved jump entry")
We never send through this channel:
- Your name, email address, Apple ID, or any account credentials
- The contents of your jump log: notes, drop zone names, gear
details, signatures, photos, or freefall data
- Your GPS location at any time outside what you choose to record
on a specific jump
Crash data is processed by Firebase under their privacy terms
(https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy), used solely to fix
software defects, not used for advertising, not sold to any third
party, and automatically deleted by Firebase after 90 days.
You can disable diagnostic reporting on your device:
- **iOS:** Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements
→ turn off "Share With App Developers".
## 6. FlySight 2 Connectivity (Optional)
If you choose to use the FlySight 2 auto-import feature, the app
connects directly to your FlySight 2 over Bluetooth Low Energy to
read recording files stored on the device.
- The data transfer is entirely between the FlySight 2 and your
phone.
- No FlySight data is uploaded to us, to FlySight, or to any third
party.
- The pairing relationship is stored in your phone's Bluetooth
settings and is under your control.
If you don't use the feature, the Bluetooth permission is never
used.
## 7. iCloud Sync (Optional)
If you have iCloud enabled on your iOS device, the app uses Apple's
CloudKit to sync your logbook across your Apple devices.
- The data is stored in your private iCloud container, accessible
only to you.
- Skydive Logbook never receives or stores your logbook data on our
servers.
- CloudKit is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
(https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).
You can disable iCloud sync at any time: iOS Settings → [your name]
→ iCloud → toggle Skydive Logbook off.
## 8. Data Export
If you choose to export your data as a CSV file:
- The file is generated locally on your device.
- You decide where to save or send it.
## 9. Subscriptions & Purchases
Skydive Logbook offers an optional subscription ("Skydive Logbook
Pro") that unlocks unlimited jump logging. You can log up to 25
jumps for free; all other features remain free.
- Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. The app
never sees or stores your payment details.
- Subscriptions are managed through your Apple Account. You can
view, change, or cancel them in the App Store settings on your
device.
- Your logbook data is never affected by your subscription status —
existing jumps remain fully viewable and exportable whether or not
you subscribe.
## 10. TestFlight
When using TestFlight, Apple may collect anonymised crash logs. This
is handled by Apple, not by Skydive Logbook, and is separate from
the Firebase Crashlytics reporting described in Section 5.
## 11. Contact
If you have privacy concerns or requests, including requests to
delete any diagnostic data Firebase may have collected about your
installation:
Email: jason@pilot.ws
We will respond within a reasonable time and either fulfill the
request or explain why we cannot.
